Please join us in extending a very warm welcome to Rev. Moses Iyogwoya who joined St. Theresa on August 2nd as our new Parochial Vicar. He comes to us from the Mission of St. Paul, based in Nigeria. Fr. Moses was born in Nigeria in 1967, the second of nine children. In the early 1990’s he received degrees in Urban and Regional Planning.
He later attended the National Missionary Seminary of St. Paul in Abuja, Nigeria, where he earned degrees in philosophy and theology. He was ordained a Catholic Priest in 2005 and worked in the Archdiocese of Abuja for one year before being appointed Vocation Director of the Missionary Society of St. Paul in Nigeria. He continued in that role for eight years and then was named Project Director. During his six years serving as Project Director he traveled to many countries, including the UK, Ireland, Canada and the U.S., to spread the word about the St. Paul missions and raise funds for the training of the seminarians there as well as their missions for the poor.
He recently spent four months in Mexico learning Spanish and comes to us directly from the St. Paul Mission regional headquarters in Houston.
“I am very much looking forward to getting to know the people of St. Theresa parish and experiencing God together with them in our shared faith,” he said.
Fr. Moses pronounces his last name, Iyogwoya, as ee-yoh-gwoy-a. But you can just call him Fr. Moses.
