Overcoming addiction while maintaining family unity presents extraordinary challenges. The SVdP virtues of humility, simplicity, and gentleness guided our volunteers when they met Elijah at his sober living residence, where he was completing a structured program. There, Elijah confronted obstacles that extended beyond addiction itself.
Caring for his 5-month-old daughter while his partner continues her own recovery in a nearby residence can be physically and emotionally exhausting. The couple is also actively working through the courts to regain custody of their 2-year-old son, who is in foster care. Elijah's faith was shaken when his job was eliminated, leaving him unable to meet financial obligations. Fearing eviction from the sober house that provides crucial stability, he reached out to SVdP for rental assistance.
Beyond the practical support of covering rent, our volunteers offered Elijah something invaluable: hope that transcends suffering, through God's promise of healing and renewal. They reminded him that his perseverance and commitment to sobriety would be rewarded. Please join us in praying for this hardworking, devoted father and his family as they rebuild their lives together.
“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, and strengthen you.” [1 Peter 5:10]
