Summer Reading 

We want to provide an opportunity for our students to continue to learn and enjoy reading over the summer months. This year  we would like to incorporate any adventures or special moments into our summer reading program. Students K-5 will participate  in sharing their reading moments by having someone take a picture of them reading, wherever they are, or even a selfie! 

Students  might be reading with Mickey or Spider-Man, in a tent, or in the comfort of their favorite chair. The point is to “catch a glimpse”  of students reading while enjoying whatever they do over the summer. Students are encouraged to read as many books as they  can and then showcase at least one book in their picture. On the first day of school students will bring their picture to class, and,  according to the grade level, will have an in-class activity to do with the picture. Students are welcome to take more than one  picture of reading different books to share with their class.  

Please follow the guidelines below for the grade the student is in for the 2022-2023 school year:  

K-2: Students will keep track of each day that they read for 20 minutes or longer. This will be done with the Summer Reading  Tracker or on a sheet of paper, and list the dates you read for 20 minutes or longer. Parents should sign the bottom of these sheets.  

Students are encouraged to read the books that interest them. Below are links to a variety of standard book lists to help select a  book; however, the books do not have to come from these lists. Please be aware that not all books published follow Catholic  teachings, and, depending on the maturity of a child, even grade-level appropriate materials may not always be appropriate for each  child. We encourage parents to be aware of what their child is reading, so that thoughtful discussions can take place, and parents  can help their child select books that they feel are appropriate for their family. Parental approval is required for your child’s book  selection, even from these lists. If the links do not work, please copy and paste the link.

Math Sites for Summer Practice 

The Math Department at STCS strongly encourages ongoing and productive practice. Please have your child choose one or more  of the following sites to keep their math skills honed and developing over the summer. These sites will provide valuable feedback  to their teachers... and to you!

Students will receive 10 computation reviews to do over the 10 weeks of summer to help keep computation skills sharp. These can  be turned in at the beginning of school for an optional assignment grade.

St. Theresa Catholic School offers the EduKit program as a convenient option for busy families to order 

school supply kits. EduKits are custom-made to include the supplies selected and approved by our school.

· Order your kit based on your child’s grade level for the 2022-2023 school year.

· A confirmation will be emailed to you after your order is placed.

· Pay online through EduKit’s secure website by June 15th to receive the best price!

· Last Chance Sale is June 16 - July 8. There is an additional $13 fee for Last Chance orders!  

 

Your child’s EduKit will be delivered to St.Theresa School by July 29th. Kit prices include shipping & handling.
