In Technology class, students engage in a comprehensive curriculum designed to build essential skills for the digital age. Beginning in Kindergarten, students use iPads to learn critical computer skills, while students are equipped with Google Chromebooks starting in 1st grade. Regular class time is dedicated to acquiring and practicing touch typing skills, ensuring proficiency in keyboarding. Tools like CargoBot are utilized to introduce programming concepts in an entertaining and puzzle-solving manner, sparking interest and creativity. Students begin with block-based programming at the elementary level, which provides a solid foundation before transitioning to Python programming in 6th grade using Colab notebooks. This gradual progression allows students to develop their coding skills in a supportive environment.

Technology class also exposes elementary students to various software tools, including drawing applications, presentation software, and spreadsheets, while covering crucial technology-related vocabulary and etiquette. These skills are strengthened during our computer classes, equipping students with the knowledge and competencies necessary to navigate an increasingly tech-driven world.

The Maker Elective: Software Development Special Edition offers a dynamic and hands-on learning environment where students delve into software development. This special edition focuses on building mobile apps, designing personal websites, and creating interactive stories and chatbots. Students have the freedom to experiment and innovate as they work on individual projects at their own pace, catering to various skill levels and interests.

Regular group lectures cover relevant topics, including web development, mobile app creation, and data visualization, ensuring that all students receive the necessary support throughout their projects.
